Text: A.S.H. Pelikan • 1982

1) I get down when I look into a mirror
all I see is a hairy hippie boy
I don’t like his ugly little chin beard
this guy’s nothing but a business toy
but that’s my image, I need it
to do the pop flop and soul
with a boogie shoop woogie dupp

2) Then back home I lay down all my wild life
there I can be tender and female
I brush my hair and put on my satin trousers
tonight on TV is Howie Carpendale
that’s my inner side, the one I got to hide
to do the pop flop and soul
with a boogie shoop woogie dupp

…and here’s the reason why I want to look like Howie Carpendale:

grandmothers love Howie Carpendale
women love Howie Carpendale
little girls love Howie Carpendale
grandmothers don’t love me
women don’t love me
little girls buy my records but they hate me
so that’s my image, I need it to do the
pop flop and soul with a boogie shoop woogie dupp
